Have you ever stopped in your tracks only to discover a decision must be made from the list of endless options? What should we do, do we go ahead or do we backtrack? Which way should we go? As we go along our merry way, we eventually arrive at the fork in the road. Our life changes instantly. Hence, we stand still. As we press the pause button, we ask ourselves, “now what?” The pause button becomes like the snooze button… press it too many times and you will find yourself in some difficult position. We hesitate because we are indecisive. We pause because we are uncertain. Then before we know it, we end up in an awkward place, stuck, and unready to accept the change that follows.
A DECISION IS REQUIRED
Sometimes, we land in the stuck mode for a reason. Perhaps it’s only at the fork when we realize we have options. We reflect and discover it was an earlier decision that brought us to this place. For now this is where we stay until our minds are made up. It could be uncomfortable, alarming, and frustrating to say the least. When we find ourselves at the crossroad, the juncture, or the intersection of life it can be quite an ordeal, but only if you allow it. Perhaps remaining where we are isn’t such a good idea as this may be where we end up missing out on the opportunities. Once you determine a different direction you embark on a different journey. And every choice carries a different outcome. Where you are today is based on yesterday’s choices.
ENOUGH CONFUSION, TIME TO GET REAL
We sometimes find ourselves inundated with too many options, becoming confused we end up making the wrong decision. Perhaps, because of inattentiveness. It’s essential to take time to reflect while weighing the pros and cons of each option. Have you ever experienced a disheartened acquaintance, friend, or relative? I have on more than one occasion. A co-worker reached the end of her tether. She came into my office to vent her anger and frustration over an incident with her manager.
What can you do? What should you do? The decision is easier when you know who you are. When you understand your principles, morals, and values, you can make a steadfast ruling. It’s when you come from the place of truth, honesty, and integrity that’s when you can make a wise decision.
LISTEN TO YOUR HEART
Our intuition and good intentions always lead us in the right direction. When your heart says no, then err on the side of caution. However, if your heart says yes, then take the risk only if you can live with the outcome. Otherwise, if you can’t live with the consequence, refrain from taking that direction. Perhaps, you’re still settling somewhere in stuck mode, pondering what to do. There you are, at the fork in the road, fretting, and standing still instead of being decisive and moving forward. While your intuition screams NO and you end up doing what you shouldn’t, trust you will achieve nothing but unhappiness. To live a life of regret is difficult. Years later you will find you paid a big price.
Every major difficulty you face in life is a fork in the road. You choose which track you will head down, toward breakdown or breakthrough.
Frustrated, troubled, and discouraged we end up resenting what we did or perhaps what we didn’t do. Sometimes we know the path to take but run as fast as we can in another direction. Only to arrive breathless and exhausted, discovering we made a mistake. There we are living with all those wrong choices. Perhaps the decision made stemmed from fear, worry, and doubt. The uneasiness, the insecurity, the lack of clarity set you on taking the incorrect path. The one you got lost on as you headed in the wrong direction. It’s important to note you can right a wrong. However, this time, rather than paying attention to everyone else, it’s important to pay closer attention to you. Listen to your heart, what is it telling you?
When it comes to forks in the road, your heart always knows the answer, not your mind.
EVERY WRONG DECISION LEADS TO DISCOVERY
Instead of interpreting this to be a negative time, perhaps we can view it in a positive light, as a blessing in disguise. Rather than view it as bad luck, we can see this as the opportunity we were seeking. It could be a chance to change your direction, to change your life. Specifically, if the road you are traveling no longer is the one you want to stay on. Now’s the chance to break away from what isn’t suitable and venture into new territory. By choosing to live a life of why not, instead of what if, you can engage in an exciting journey. When you become adventurous, fearless, and live your truth, you will ultimately discover the pathway to success. One that leads to happiness.
