The joy of Christmas miracles abound. Yet we take so many things in life for granted, believing everything will stay the same. But one day something happens and everything changes. We believe a person or a pet will always be with us, but as we all know that isn’t the case. Although, they do live on in memory and in our hearts. However, memories come and go, not only fading over time but sometimes failing altogether. Nevertheless, through it all, we keep on keeping on, believing in miracles, living out the life we are gifted to live, and working at creating new memories.
Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.
YEARS AGO
It was my second Christmas away from home, spending time with my grandparents. I was 7. They took a train and came to fetch me for the holidays. This was the second time, I as a youngster had taken a train at Christmas. Boy oh boy, what an experience to remember, and one I hope to never forget. Whenever we take in something new, we relish the time. And with every special experience like the time spent with grandparents, it gets etched in one’s memory, and will forever live in our hearts.
Christmas… is not an external event at all, but a piece of one’s home that one carries in one’s heart.
The thing is, as we grow older, we are more picky, more finicky, and less appreciative. We are less likely to be accepting, less inclined to just go with the flow, and more difficult to please. However, as we get on in years, we long for the simple pleasures once again. We yearn for some time with those special people who are no longer with us. Christmas has a way of stirring up memories, along with all the emotions that piggyback their way into our lives.
CHRISTMAS MIRACLES AND ITS MEMORIES
The year 2019 was difficult to say the least. I’ve lost a very close dear friend, a family member, a special person who I will never forget, and a colleague who had a special place in my heart. There were those I met briefly, who also passed away, who I didn’t get to know. Life comes with good times, but it also comes with its challenges and heartbreaks. And it’s up to us to weather those storms that forever change our lives.
So this Christmas season, as we bring in the festivities, we continue to create those special moments. Remembering those who are no longer with us. Those beautiful souls who loved us dearly. Knowing they will always hold a special place within our thoughts and in our hearts. Be sure to embrace those who are grieving a loss for only time can heal their pain. Reminisce about the good times, and take the time to reflect on all the miracles of the past and the present. Christmas miracles… the gift of memories.
Only time serves to provide healing, as it bridges the gap to hope for all who have lost loved ones. Whether a loss is current or whether it happened years ago, only time can mend our hearts. Trusting we can begin again when something or someone new enters our lives, giving us an opportunity to create new memories and Christmas miracles.
The thing about Christmas is that it almost doesn’t matter what mood you’re in or what kind of a year you’ve had – it’s a fresh start.
