Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.
What does a Christmas reflection mean to you? Does it come upon you when you greet a new day? Or do you find it as you settle in for the evening? Perhaps it happens midday when you have a moment to contemplate another year as it comes to a close. Who doesn’t love this time of year with all of its magical moments? The twinkling lights, the festive music, all the bells and whistles that make up a celebratory season.
I now view this holiday with new appreciation, taking more joy in luxurious moments of reflection, where I review the year that was and plan for the year ahead. After dining, after the cleanup, after another full day, well after everyone retires for the night, there’s this quiet moment when I reflect on the meaningful gifts I cherish most. The people in my life, the time I have to do the things I love, beautiful memories, and the sweet, simple things in life. These gifts have meaning and value. Only to be superseded by the greatest gift of all, the loving gesture of God, the gift of Jesus, who is the true meaning behind Christmas.
Christmas gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect on the important things around us.
A CHRISTMAS REFLECTION USHERS IN PEACE
What do you value and celebrate? Do you observe the traditional Christmas story, or do you revel in the glitz of the season? Some of us have beliefs while others don’t. But what makes this time extraordinary is we come together worldwide in celebration. Christmas reminds us to reflect on the beauty of life and the gift of love. It’s when we can relax in those tranquil moments to enjoy the spirit of Christmas.
Once again, I’m more inclined to keep this Christmas simple. Travel and social gatherings can be quite a dicey proposition. Grateful to enjoy this time, safe and secure. We can still delight in whatever this Christmas will bring, with laid-back enthusiasm and with fond admiration, relishing each moment. Perchance dreaming of future Christmases, and what meaning it will hold once we get to experience it again as we had in the past. We can only hope, but it starts with accepting every moment with grateful hearts.
Just remember, the true spirit of Christmas lies in your heart.
