Forgiveness is for yourself because it frees you. It lets you out of that prison you put yourself in.
The inward journey orchestrates our external quest; it will set the pace and map out the direction we ultimately take in our professional and personal life. What we think, how we think influences our decisions, which determines the path we end up on, whether the high road to somewhere or the low road to nowhere. The key is staying positive while focused on the goal and remaining attentive to the steps required to achieve it.
However, first things first, forgiveness. To forgive ourselves for the things we may have played a part in that we are sorry for. When we give ourselves a break, we take a detour from the stumbling blocks. Without self-forgiveness and honoring who we are, we end up focused more on the guilt and regret. We carry an additional burden, which eventually turns up as an obstacle that will restrict our capacity to achieve success. Self-forgiveness enables us to not only accept situations for what they are, but it allows us to learn from the experience.
JOURNEY TO FORGIVENESS BEGINS WITH LOVING UNCONDITIONALLY
When we practice self-forgiveness, we engage self-love. And that is step one, to forgive and love yourself first. When we are less self-loathing and more self-forgiving, our inner dialogue changes. The inner dialogue that will give us the strength to tap into the power of unconditional love, a love that is genuine, unlimited, and infinite. Step two, while loving you for just being you, the door opens to forgiving others.
Everything begins and ends with you. Where do your thoughts linger? Are you lost in a dark space, or are you basking in the light? It depends on how you handle everything in your life, your thoughts, words, and actions; the whole kit and caboodle. It starts with you caring for you and taking the time for loving you first, so you can love others the same way, without condition.
Inner peace can be reached only when we practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is letting go of the past, and is therefore the means for correcting our misperceptions.
