In the event that one door closes, trust another will open. When the sun sets in the horizon dawn greets us the next day. When the leaves of autumn turn color and fall from the branches they once firmly held, call out to the crisp snowy chill. In due time the stark nakedness of winter arrives only to dream of the warm and colorful attired summer. Seasons change, just like everything else in life. Just like us, as we move from what was to what is to what can be. Spring introduces new buds and new beginnings. All things considered, a calm always follows a storm. And peace settles somewhere in the shadow of commotion… asking to be found.
Everyone experiences challenges, but it’s important not to dwell on what we have no alternative but to face. It’s these demands that wake us up. We learn from them, mature, and develop the courage to change. We assess the damage and pick up where we left off or better yet, head in another direction altogether. It’s on the road to change where you discover you are one step away from the conflict, and three steps closer to the calm.
THE CHOICE, TO TAKE THE ROAD TO CALM
We trust willpower will help us break free from negativity. Through awareness, recognizing what belongs in our lives and what doesn’t. So, we live attentively and realize we must break away from what causes disharmony. We move from what’s no longer beneficial. And avoid what no longer merits attention. The road to calm is only a decision away. Harmony is part of our original makeup, however, we have to embrace it. We can incorporate the ritual of prayer and meditations into our daily lives and in return receive the reward of insight. Nevertheless, it’s up to us to work with intuition, make those difficult decisions, and move closer to the calm.
When spiritually inclined, we’re compelled to focus on the inside narrative despite the outside stories. The more time spent looking inwardly instead of outwardly; we discover the solution to most of our difficulties. Peace of mind takes place after exposing the root cause of our dilemmas. The state of tranquility comes about only after we find the origin of our troubles. In every situation, it’s up to us to consider the source. Instead of just skimming the surface, it’s time to get out of the shallows, into those tight corners, into the nitty-gritty of our affairs, because everything slumbers somewhere in the details. In other words, it’s time to get real.
PEACE, HARMONY & TRUTH LEAD US TO THE CALM
When you live in your truth, the truth will set you free and the freedom leads you to the calm desired. What are you holding onto… a grudge, resentment, frustration, shame, doubt, or despair? The calm doesn’t flourish where these negative emotions live. It’s when we release these harmful emotions allowing for better thoughts to prevail. Positive views, opinions, judgments, and beliefs guide us to take a step back, to press the pause button for a moment so we can connect with our heart. And what we discover is that the underlying factor becomes the life lesson of what peace entails and how it will lead to the calm we seek.
Power is so characteristically calm, that calmness in itself has the aspect of strength.
The situation that warranted harmony meant we had to take a second look. Perhaps the road led to a detour that changed something about the state of the current life we lead. However, it not only changed some characteristic of who we were but altered other aspects existing outside us. Silence enabled us to see things clearly, and from a different perspective, we perhaps took a closer look and discovered what remains after any adversity is the calm. We have the power to marshal those peaceful tranquil moments. The quiet stillness helps us perceive our current situation and leads us to the place of harmony. With this in mind, the place of harmony graciously delivered us to the calm. The calm we couldn’t catch sight of until after the storm had passed.
